Day 18, 19, 20, 21 - Kayak Camping at Darlington Provincial Park

I didn’t come to Monticle for a couple days and missed some stuff at Monticle, like camp preparation and kayaking. Instead I went to Boston with my family and went whale watching when my mom get dizzy and my sister got sick.

Michael
After 3 days with all kayaks of Monticle at Darlington we ariived back to HQ! At the first day, we split into two teams which are Billy’s and Jerome’s. Billy’s went to the campsite to set up tents first, while Jerome’s arrived after because of servicing at NYCCC. As each campsite can only hold 6 people (sleeping overnight), unless they are one family, or else we needed to register for another campsite! Therefore, Billy needed to spend $130 more for another campsite. What a pity for us! (PS I was in charge of the inventory for camping, with the assistance of Alastair and Jason Wang and it was quite good. Well, Billy just let me do it in order to let me learn about organizing and planning stuff).

Day 2
We mainly assembled those kayaks (all K1) this day spending almost 7 or 8 hours – so we didn’t do any kayaking, as we’re sweating like well. Therefore, we sent some guys to choose out the kayak-starting point, while assembling the kayaks. We ended the day by handball game. Luckily, everybody enjoyed it.

Day 3
Today was a crazy kayak day. We went to Lake Ontario extreme conditions head and thunderstorm. We set out all the 6 kayaks in the morning, but we couldn’t travel because the thunderstorm’s crazy. After lunch, Billy, Jerome, Alastair, Jason Wang and we headed to a nuclear plant 11km away. Because of the heat, we all sweated like Hell! Anyway, we’re all so hungry, so we just ended the day by eating a lot of mash potato and soft drinks. (PS Billy lost his video camera while capsizing. He needed to ensure Edwin Lo’s safety, so he grabbed him instead of camera. Afterward, Billy (after capsize) and Jerome (after washroom) demonstrated 2 boat and 1 boat rescues).

Day 4
As Billy and me sent the boats back to HQ in the morning today and evening yesterday, while Jerome and the guys cleaned the tents and we had breakfast, we ran it smoothly, making it efficient and therefore we could go back to HQ and started clearing up. at last, we all had BBQ Pork and Soya sauce Chicken Rice at First Markham Place, and hopefully everyone could bring their wonderful memories back to home 

Too bad the rest of the crew went on a trip and we spent much of the morning without them. Thankfully the three of us remeninded to be lectured on social intelligence on leadership-while the others kept packing up! but we did help them…

Alastair

This weekend we went kayak camping  ! Michael and I built two of our k1 kayaks by ourselves, and we still faster thatn the group that built the last k1. Since the park warden at the park was being uptight, I had to use another camp site, along with a few others. During the actual kayaking, Michael, Billy, Jason Wong, Jerome and I had to be herd both k2s, Edwing and Ryan, Jerome and Jason and Jason. One could like it to herding sheep… anyways, the Jasons got suck, and Jerome had to tow them out. Also, during the first trip we billy and little Edwin cap sized, and Edwin was forced onto Jeromes kayak.

Edwin Cheung

We have a 4 day trip with kayaking in Darlingto. Before we start a rundown to NYCCC with Anderson. Afterward we pack our camping stuff. We bring all the kayaks. We make our tent and ate dinner. Day 2, we started to make a kayak. Me and Jason have a 2 hour walk around the campsit. We make kayak till 40’clock. Then we have dinner. The next day we ack up early and went to dayitonic beach to have a day of kayaking. Then we tick our kayaking back to camp base , afterwood we have dinner. The last day we pack up a go back to Monticle head conter and did a cleanup. I finaly can kayak and gain some experience. Ya Ya Ya Ya Ya Ya Ya Ya Ya Ya!!!

Edwin Lo

At August five I had a four day camping. At six o’clock I am at camping side, but we had two team the first team at camping side at four o’clock. Then, the first team need to do the tent and the kitchen. After, the second team came here after, we were wait to eat the dinner. Next day, I ate the breakfast at half past seven. After we built the k1, when they were building the k1, I were cooking with Billy. After the lunch, we went near the beach to play the soccer. After one hour, I went back to the tent and went to shower. And I ate the dinner. Next day, I went to play the kayak at the beach. At the time had a standard storm, so I use the fast time to kayak back to the beach.  After , we went back to the tent. Jerome cook the dinner for us. Next day, today was the last, so I pack my thing. 

Jason Wang

Hey, people! It’s me again… The one and only Jason! (The Jason not Jason 2) Well we started the camp on aug 5th 2011. The camp started at 6 am then we split into 2 groups, one that went to the campsite to set up the tents while other group went to a church to do it with some other people from the church. When the 2nd group got to the Darlington campsite we set up the k1 kahyaks but we didn’t have time to go on the water. Jerome, Billy, Michael and I went to the nuclear power plants, on the 8th we got back to Monticle
HQ and cleaned up the equipment we used in the camp.

Ryan

This was one of the best programs even it was with 8 other people which means a lot. We started setting up the tent in August 5th 2011 4:00 pm, but it really started during 6:00 pm. we had many different food with many different tastes. We had to do chores and the main setup the kayak. but that is okay. The main event happened in day 3 when we all went kayaking. I was realy tired but happy I accomplished it after we had to repack everything even though we were exhausted. Overall it was a fun program.

Jason Wong
This past weekend I went camping with Michael, Little Edwin, Big Edwin, other Jason, Ryan, Alastair kayaking. The first day I helped pack the camping gear and kayaking gear. Then we waited for the others to get food supplies from Billy’s apartment. After lunch we went to the church except the people who were going to set up the camp. Then we went back to HQ then we went to the camping area. We had dinner when we got there. The we brushed our teeth and went to bed. The second day the others were building the kayak. while me and big Edwin scout out the beach for most of the day then had dinner. the third day we kayak for most of the day then had dinner while the other took kayaks to HQ. today we pack up and went back to HQ. the food at camp was good.
