Alpha Group / Me3 Foundation Day 1

June 30, 2012

Long day today, we started off the day waking up at 7:00. After a short clean up at the apartment, we made our way to the HQ for breakfast. After breakfast and a clean-up of the HQ, we headed to York University for a tour, led by Tammy, our chief administrator. Near lunchtime, we went back to HQ for to prepare our lunch. Billy decided to surprise us with a hot dog barbeque and soft drinks! After that refreshing break, all the students settled down for an afternoon of lessons and activities. They were taught social intelligence, time management, and leadership skills by Tammy and Kenny. Finally, after a short shopping trip, we prepared a dinner of pasta and chicken wings, and watched a movie. All in all, this was a long and activity packed day, so good night, and we’ll post again tomorrow!

Mike

Today our breakfast was fine; we had oatmeal, boiled eggs and juice. After that, we went on a tour through York University. York University was huge, we went through some of the buildings and that took 2-3 hours. Lunch was hot dogs and soda. After that we had a pretty long presentation about social intelligence in leadership with a few activities. We also had physical testing (PT) with push-ups and runs. Then we watched Human Planet while dinner was being made. Dinner was fine with chicken wings and macaroni. Our group also did all the cleaning of utensils and was in charge of cooking breakfast.

Today, it was day 1. We had a lot of fun and I tasted oatmeal. It’s not good, but for lunch, we had hot dogs! For dinner, we had chicken wings and macaroni with sauce. It was good. I cleaned the dishes (well dried the stuff), and it was more fun than I thought. We also had to clean the bathrooms and stuff. Tomorrow, we were supposed to go to Ottawa, but we can’t, something happened. Today we had the exam, I got perfect! Tomorrow we are going to Centre Island, I’m excited.

Today was the official first day of the camp. I had a lot of fun and really enjoyed the day. For breakfast, we had oatmeal and eggs, but the oatmeal was a little gross. I still lived with it. Next, we went to York U (university) and Tammy our chief administrator showed us around. I saw a lot of different buildings and cool sights. Although my feet were getting sore from walking, the trip was still really fun. Then, we had lunch. Lunch was really yummy, (well of course we had hotdogs!!). After lunch, I helped with the dishes and we had a class on social intelligent in leadership. I learned a lot and played many fun games. We had a code of conduct 101 exam after the class and I got 100%. Yeah!! Next, we had a PT (physical training) test, it was easy; just some running and push-ups. Later, we had dinner. Dinner was also delicious. We had macaroni and sauce and chicken wings!! Yum!! Well I guess, that’s my day, and I’d like to thank all the counselors and instructors for everything today. Today was a fun first day!!

The first day of our Monticle summer camp was great so far. Although I didn’t enjoy eating oatmeal for breakfast, nor did I like our visit to York University, our lunch was the best thing I ate during the entire trip. Then we took a Social intelligence in Leadership class, where I found out that I am an auditory person. People who have an auditory learning style like listening to lectures and asking questions. That may not be the exact description of myself, but it’s pretty close. Then, we all did a safety test, which was very easy compared to the ones we have at school. The following activity was a physical test, where we had to run 10 laps, which was easier than 10 laps because I never did one in my whole life. To round off, we ate dinner, watched a part of a movie, then went back to our apartment and slept.

Today’s breakfast is bad, because it is oatmeal and I hate oatmeal. The lunch is awesome. It is hotdogs. It’s the best hot dog I’ve ever tasted. My drink is Mountain Dew. It’s pretty good. It is my first time to drink this soda. I also had a nosebleed. I don’t know why I had this nosebleed. Then we watched a movie called “Human Planet”. At frst I thought it was boring. After a few minutes. I thought the movie was very good. We also had a exam. Only 3 people got the exam perferct. But everyone passed the exam. Our dinner is macaroni with tomato sause and chiken wings. I only liked the chicken wings. We also did a test. We had to run around when Billy blows a whistle. After that, we had to do 20 push-ups. I can’t even do a single push-up. We also had to write a blog and this is my blog probably in the Monticle Blog webste when I let Howard type this paper. Today is a fun day.

7:30, we were waken up by the instructors , half asleep we got dressed, prepared and lined up ready to leave the apartment as silent as possible, it seemed to be an impossible task but w all finished and completed it without doubt. We arrived the HQ and cleaned the 2nd floor as we waited for group bravo to cook up the breakfast. We learned our first valuable lesson then, “Pay attention to the smallest details” then evaluated our cleaning job while eating the oatmeal meal with eggs. Our whole team chit chatted and had a good socialized moring. We headed out on a trip to the famous York University and got a tour and trip. In the hot afternoon we ate fresh crispy hot dogs and had a long lesson about social intelligence, about different kinds op people & learning, time management and impressions. We had a P.T.T test, watched an episode of National Geo and ate our wonderful dinner cooked by Billy and started documenting our awesome day! I’m wondering what adventure we may experience tomorrow in central island.

Today was day one of Monticle Leadership training organization camp. I woke up today by the sound of somebody coming out of their beds at around 7 a.m. in the morning. After leaving the apartment, we arrived at the  HQ and split into our teams to do our respective activities. My team, team Alpha, was in charge of cleaning the second floor. There we learned our first valuable lesson, to “Pay attention to detail”. Then we ate a breakfast hat comprised of oatmeal and boiled eggs. The eggs were fine but I didn’t like the oatmeal. Then we visited York University, the 3rd largest university in Canada. It was a very fantastic trip that filled one with inspiration and dedication. We then had a lunch of hotdogs that were delicious. We had a very educational Social Intelligence class.  We also had a delicious dinner of chicken wings and macaroni. It was a fun day and I hope to have more.

Today, in the morning , when I finished breakfast, I went to Toronto’s 3rd largest university which is called York University. The structure is very different from Hong Kong’s, and there are different buildings for different subjects. This university is famous for business and law. In the afternoon we had a lesson about social intelligence. I learned intelligent ways on communication, impressions, VAK (visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic) etc. to become a good leader. I had a good day today!

The day started out bad because of our oatmeal breakfast then we had to clean the HQ for education purposes. In the afternoon, we took a long safety lesson and a short test. The dinner was good at least but my stomach is hurting a bit but don’t worry I’m fine.
