Day 18 - Nova Scotia

Oh no! Day 18! There’s only 5 days left! Well, this doesn’t stop us from going to PEI, New Brunswick and Quebec. So be sure to check in on us!

Last night it poured, everything we owned got wet, even the clothing we hung outside! So we decided to stay another night at the campsite until everything dries up.

After a warm breakfast, we drove around Ile de Cheticamp Island and did a little sightseeing around the area. We stopped at the lighthouse to enjoy the view and at the same time, we got to see cows up close. There was a whole group of them!

We needed food for our road trip so we stopped at the Co-op market and stocked up. As soon as we finished lunch back at the camp site, we set out again, seeking more adventure.

We drove to Corney Brook and took the hiking trail. That’s right! We went hiking on a trail full of wild animals; moose, bears, snakes and coyotes. Luckily we only saw their tracks and droppings so we were in no danger, no need to worry. The trail is about 6.1 km long and it took us about 2 hour to finish. It was a tiring hike but the walk was completely worth it when we got to the waterfall. It was really peaceful and beautiful.

By the time we got out of the trail, it was almost time for dinner so we drove back to the camp. Along the way, Billy suddenly slowed down. We all looked out the front window with curiosity and noticed that a couple of vehicles had stopped and were looking at something. At what? You will never believe it! Just off to the side of the road, there was a matured black bear! It was feeding off the vegetation by the side of the road. It was so close to us! It was amazing, it was exciting and it was a treat for all our hard work!

Later, on our way back to the camp, we spotted some beavers in a small pond. It was unfortunate that all our belongings got wet but without the rain, we wouldn’t have stayed another day and we wouldn’t have been able to see some much wild life! It was wonderful!

So we got back to the camp and made our dinner. You will never guess what we ate today. We had Sirloin Steak, Atlantic cod fillet and pork chops. Wow! Yummy, right?

Now, it’s time for us to rest up for tomorrow. We’re setting out really early tomorrow so we can make it to PEI and have some more fun. :)

See you all later!
