Day 13 - St. John's, Newfoundland

We finally got off the boat (after 42 hours) early in the morning in Lewisporte and were soon back on the road. Our next destination was St. John’s, the capital of Newfoundland. It was another 4-5 hour ride.

We stopped for awhile to have brunch in Clarenville, Newfoundland. After another couple of hours, we finally arrived in St. John’s and we quickly stopped at “Speedy” to get our windshield (damaged on North West River Labrador) repaired. There was a minor crack but now it looks as good as new!

We then visited Signal Hill for some historical lectures. We learned about how the France had taken control of St. John’s but the British fought back. We also learned that communication with the phone lines first started at Signal Hill.

After the exciting visit, we decided to visit the lighthouse before going to dinner. After a half an hour ride, we discovered Billy’s wallet was missing! But there’s nothing to worry about, the Newfoundlanders were so kind, we retrieved the wallet with everything intact! What a relief!

The lighthouse was of course, by the ocean. We could smell the nice ocean breeze from the lighthouse, it was simply beautiful! It was really windy but the water was very clear and the scenery was absolutely spectacular! :)

After taking in such beauty, we were all feeling hungry so we went to Swiss Chalet for dinner. There was so much food! It was good but not better than Charlie’s. :)

GUESS WHAT?! You will all be shocked to hear this; we saw a moose on the side of the highway! IT WAS HUGE! Bigger than our vehicle, imagine that! :)

Our next destination for tomorrow it Gros Morne National Park. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
