Day 15 - Gros Morne

Day 15! It’s almost time to go home. We all don’t know whether we should be happy that we have a week of adventure left or sad that it’s almost over but no matter, we plan on making the best of it!

As you all know, we arrived in Gros Morne National Park last night. This morning, after some oatmeal and eggs, we set out to Western Brook Pond for our hiking trip. The trail was 5.4km long and it was estimated that we would walk for 1-2 hours but we took longer because we stopped awhile to rest.

The trail was really wet and muggy. It also rained pretty hard. The view wasn’t what we expected since the fog was really thick, but it was satisfying knowing that we didn’t turn back when we could have and finished the trail all the way to the end.

Billy gave us lectures along the way. We learned what to do in certain situations, how to avoid other situations and how to tell which animal has been around just by looking at their feces.

After the hike we went to The Arches Provincial Park. It’s a large rock that forms a wall of arches. We stayed awhile, enjoying the nice ocean breeze and collected some rocks as memories. We also had some fun skipping rocks.

Later, we headed to Lobster Cove Lighthouse. We walked around the area, enjoying the amazing ocean scenery. The most beautiful hill to enjoy the scenery would be Salmon Hill. The scenery is absolutely stunning!

The next place was visited was the Gros Morne Visitor’s centre. We stayed awhile to watch a video about Gros Morne before heading back to the cottage to make dinner. We had noodle soup which warmed our bellies after a cold morning.

It was a tiring day…time to go get some rest and we’ll talk more tomorrow. :)
