Charlie Group Day 04

Today was a day of preparation and training for the upcoming camping trip in Warsaw. The students started the day off with some physical challenges, a soccer game, jerry can lift, and a dragon push-up, all designed to strengthen the muscles used in kayaking and paddling. The soccer game, for example, was to test their endurance; the jerry can lift and the dragon push-up were to strengthen their arms.

When we arrived back at HQ, we had a lunch of instant noodles, eggs, and pork chops, then we moved on to the lectures for the day. Raymond taught the students how to light a coleman lamp and stove, and taught them how to set up and pack a tent. Meanwhile, the senior students and Billy were stocking up on food for the 4 day camping trip.

We’re preparing for a BBQ right now, so this blog will end here. Good night, and we wish the students luck in their camping trip!

Edwin woke me up today and we started exercising. When everybody was awake, we started to set u[ the tables for breakfast, which was cereal. After that, we started to leave for Huntington Park, to have our competition of the day (to see who would sleep in the apartment). First, we had a soccer game, where we barely lost. Then, we had to hold up a can of water for 13 minutes. We both managed to hold up the can for the time limit so we tied. Lastly, we did dragon pushups, where we had to put our legs on each other’s backs and hold in pushup position for as long as we could. They passed our time by 12 seconds, when we came back to the HQ, Raymond taught us how to use a stove and set up a tent. Over these days, I have learned a lot of things and along this trip I also feel like losing some pounds. Bye for now!

After the breakfast, we went to hunting park to do some race pt like soccer game, hold jerry can and start shap pushup. Alpha team win two game, but we have the challenge game if alpha lose and the next team can have hot shower. After the lunch, we learn how to use the camp light, camp stove and build tent. After, the next team have a time to share the movie we didn’t watch. After we do the challge.

Today, I was very tired. In the morning, we did the morning pt in the Huntington Park. We did three pt. first was the soccer game. Finally, the A group won. The second PT was holding the Gerry can 5 min, the winner also was A team. Then we got back to HQ and had lunch. After lunch, I learnt how to use the stove and, I learnt how to build a tent. It was very excited. After the class, I had two PT also. It was tired. I will go to camp tomorrow, it will be interesting and amazing.

The day began having physical training at Huntington Park. We were split with 2 teams, to have a friendly competition. The first challenge was soccer. Team Bravo won, however Team Alpha won 3-2. The next challenge was the jerry can lift. This resulted in a tie between both teams holding the 20 lb container for the maximum of 5 minutes. The final challenge was the star pushup. Unfortunately, our team, Team Bravo lost this challenge, again resulting in Team Alpha being undefeated in these challenges. Later on in the afternoon, we were lectured on learning how to use the stove and lantern for camping. Along with this, we learned to set up a tent. To end the day we did some physical tests. Taking from these experiences, I built upon my strength and learned some things about camping

We woke up at 8:00 am and cleaned up the HQ a little bi. We had cereal for breakfast. After breakfast we went to Huntington Park for three challanges. The first challange was soccer my team |(bravo) lost 3-2 and I scored both goals. The second challange was that both teams have to lift up a 20 kg jerry can for a limit of 5 minutes but alpha won that. The last challange was that we did a star shaped pushup except we do go down we have to hold up but we also lost that. After that we went back to HQ for lunch which was instant noodle, fried eggs and park shop. After lunch we had a lecture on how to use the coleman stove and the coleman lamp. After that we learned how to set up a tent and put it away. The final thins we did was is that my team had to present about the movie “Great Deabater”

After winning team Alpha another night’s stay at the Apartment with my knowledge of phones, this morning we went to Huntington Park for PT challenges, like soccer, lifting water cans, and star shaped dragon push-up. Having won two of three challenges, we had the chance to return for another night, but we just decided to do the K2 lift a little later on to decide who would win.
We were joined by two siblings as seniors, Jennifer and Jason. They aided us as we learned how to use camp stoves and lanterns and set up a tent, as we are leaving for Warsaw Caves early tomorrow morning! J.J. will show us how to pack our bags for this occasion.
As for the water bottle dispute, thanks to Edwin C., I got another one! I will never lose anything like this again. All I hope is that we will win the K2 challenge tonight and receive a comfy place to stay before leaving for camp! Oh, exciting! But the best is yet to come!

We had morning physical challenges. First challenge was soccer (we won), next we had to carry a jerry can (we tied), and then we had to do star push-ups, where everyone had to put their legs on one another. Since we have to go camping tomorrow, we had to learn how to use a stove and lantern. We also learned how to set up and put away a tent. Camping trip tomorrow!

Today we did PTs in the morning at the Park. There were three events. The first even was soccer. The Alpha tesm won 3-2. The second event was holding a jug of water. It was tied. The last even was the pushups. The alpha team won with 32 seconds. After that, we had a bunch of camping equipment to learn about. Then we had a drama lecture about presentation. Then we learn about packing bags for camping. I learned about how to start a stove and turn off the stove, how to start and turn off a lantern and how to build and take down a tent. Tomorrow, it is our first day of camp.

Matthew

Today was awsome! We had  physical challenges (PT) in the morning. First was soccer. Second was carring 15 -20 gallons of water. But it was the whole group carrying it. Third was star pushup. It’s like putting your legs on someones back and pushing up. Our group, alpha group won all three. Second was tie but basically we won. Then we went back to HQ, had lunch and learned how to set up the tent. Then we had a PT carrying the tent back to the end of the parking lot and back. That’s basically it for now

Justin

This was the most exhausting day so far as we did many physical activities. At first we went to a huge park to do three different activities. I felt very sick after playing soccer however we did very well and won the game. I couldn’t help my team with the second challenge but they did pretty well without me. The last challenge was the star pushups which was very difficult. I was quite skeptical with this one but we ended up winning the challenge. After getting back, we ate lunch and washed the dished which was horrible. However after lunch, we learned how to start a stove, lantern and set up a tent which was really interesting. Overall it was a lot of fun today and team alpha was very successful.

Roman

Today was another exiting day. We did more PT today: soccer, jerry can lifting, and pentagon push up. Bravo team which my team lost almost every challenge, but we hadn’t given up yet! We also learned stuff about camping, since we are camping tomorrow! Before dinner we talked about public presentation. Life is great in camp!

Brian

Andrew

Today was pretty exausting. Our physical strength and endurance were tested in a series of sports and challenges. One challenge that we had to execute was doing a star dragon pushup. Unfortunately, my team lost against the other team. Better luck next time. Also, I learned how to operate the outdoor equipment, like setting up a tent, and operating a lantern. Overall, my strength and knowledge on outdoor equipment has improved quite a bit.
