Day 6
Rain clouds hung overhead this morning. We
didn’t know if it was going to rain or not; however, in the end we continued
onto today’s schedule: and that is hiking. The morning started off with PT as
per usual, and then we had room inspection, with Billy discussing the details
of the hike to everyone. Each group will be dropped off at different locations,
and their job is to remember different details. Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, and
Delta group all did very well making their way back to camp. When everyone got
back, they did some teambuilding exercises, and were taught how to build a
fire. All in all, it was a fun and tiring day.

Theres practically nothing else to describe
today but tough. As we were driven to an unknown place and left there to find
our way back, then when we finally crawled crawled back to the campsite, once
again we were challenged to a game of
“Lifting-11-people-back-and-forth-switching-but-no-walking-just-passing” As the
name suggests, we were challenged by strength, by lifting 11 people on a spider
board, with the objection of everyone getting a turn. We were going against two
other teams, and WON! Survival skills were taught as well, such as lighting a
fire by just your pocket knife and a battery. Attention to detail,
communication, memory and teamwork were the key concept, of the day, and frankly,
I think it really helped. We still have many days of hard way to go through, so
get set, get ready, lets go!
Chin Ho
Today was a very challenging day, we had to
hike for 5 whole/hours, dropping us in the middle of nowhere and hen finding
our way back? My 1st ever experience. I learned that teamwork is
very important because if we weren’t together as a team, we would never reach
our campsite.
Nestor
Today I was realy tired because billy
droped us 4-ish km and we had to walk and find our way back to our motel. But
the worse part is that we did not have lunch!!!!!!
Kaysha Lam
Today was so tiring! We had to walk 4 hrs
with our heavy camp bags back to the Muskey’s Landing Resort by ourselves (own
team). We stopped many times. The weather did not help at all; it was either
very hot or very wet. We worked in our teams, finding information. For example,
we had to count the houses along the way and if they were for sale, and much
more. We started at 11 and we were supposed to finish in 1 hr and eat lunch,
but we arrived at 3pm, like what I expected. After that we tried to start
fires. Then, working in group we had to carry people on a board to the opposing
side. Sadly, our team was last, but at least we had determination and
communication.
Rita Chen
Today, we had to pack our clothes,
toiletries and sleeping things. We were sent off to the middle of no-where. We
had to remember the roads so we could find our way back to Musky’s. It wasn’t
that hard to find our way back, but it was extremely challenging to carry a
really heavy backpack. We walked for around 3-4 hours, and in the burning sun.
At one point, it started to rain,so we put our raincoats on. 3 minutes later,
the rain stopped, and it was hot, so we had to take them off. And it was hot,
it was a really frustrating trip.
Maggie
Today I still don’t don’t know when I woke
up. When we finally got down, we were late for PT. After PT, we ate breakfast
and had room inspection. Then we got ready for hiking. For hiking, Billy just
drove us to a random place and dropped us off on the drive there, we were
supposed to record everything and take notes. When we finally reached the
hotel, I was starving! I ate some bars and drank some Canada Dry. Then Billy
taught us how to make a fire. After that, we had a teamwork and communication
activity, where one person would be on the stretcher and the other would help
shift the stretcher.
Kevin
Woke up in the morning had breakfast and
headed towards hiking. We each had different jobs to do during the hike. Mine,
unfortunately was to count the shop we pasted by and how many bridges we came
across. It was a 5km hike, but we got to stop by restrurants and shops we walk
past, my group stopped by an ice-cream store in a boat called “ice-breakers”.
That’s when the interesting thing happened, all flavours of ice-cream comes in
2 scoops, so I ordered 2 flavours, strawberry and caramel. So I ordered 4
scoops, 2 scoops charges 3.50 dollar, but 4 scoops also cost 3:50
dollars.Miracle. I think it was because the sales man was too stupid, he was
the person who scooped the ice-cream, he
didn’t see the ice-cream in the bottom, only saw the ice cream on top. When I
heard him said it cost 3.50, in my mind I was like “fail”.
Tess Chau
Today I totally underestimated the “hiking”
Billy assigned for us. Billy dropped the alpha group off at 9:30 in the middle
of nowhere then told us to find our way back “home”. Boy oh boy was I wrong
when I thought this hike was going to be easy! By the time we got back from the
hike we were famished and we literally collapsed on the floor. After a few
nibbles on an energy bar, (or 2), Billy taught everyone how to start a fire.
Now it’s free time, and can’t wait for tomorrow’s activities!
Nicola Huang
Today, as a group, we walked 5k in an
unknown place back to Muskey. On our back, was a heavy loaded camp bag. This
was painful for our shoulders. But yet, this adventure. I found very amusing.
We got to explore the places around Musky, learn collaboration, learn to
navigate, to pay attention to detail, and to always remember that hydration is
the key. What an adventure!
Samson Lee
Today, I did the 5km walking challenge from
the Dead End sign to Muskey’s Landing Cottage Resort. It took almost 3 hours
for the entire length with rest stops. During the 5km walking challenge break,
I ate an apple and drank coke for snack at the picnic table. Then, I walked for
another 2 kilometres but finally I have reached to the Muskey’s Landing Cottage
Resort. At last, everyone made it to the Muskey’s Landing Cottage resort for
the entire length of 5km but 0 people gave up in the 5km walking challenge.
Whenever I want to participate in the 160km walking challenge in 3 days, I can
walk from Monticle HQ (Toronto) to Niagara Falls, Ontario. During the 160km
walking challenge, I will not always
giving up just like Terry Fox ran without stopping. I had a big fun day!!!
Bridget Zhao
Today is one of the most tiring days in this
camp. We had to ‘pack’ some stuff into our big camp bag and as a group, we had
to hike or walk 5km from a place to our cottage. More than half way through our
way back, Alpha group and my group had a lecture from Billy and it was so much
fun. My group also had ice-cream on the way back. It wasn’t as tiring as I
thought aboot our legs getting tired and painful after the walk, but both of
our groups managed to arrive back at the camp site. After we arrived, we did
some fire starting ‘experiment’ and some ‘military’ activity.
Kelvin P
Today I sweated a lot. Samson is a Great
GPS

Tomorrow we will have social Intelligence
lesson, but I forget to bring my shoes. How sad! Please forgive me. Today we go
hiking. Bily drove us to a place and we have to walk to the hotel. That is very
interesting! Sorry for no details because I have to finish before dinner.
Meagan
Today was so TIRING!!!!!!! OKAY….. Today
started with breakfast, then there was room inspection after we had to pack for
5k (OMG)!!!!! The 5k was like 10000000 days!!! But, Bravo got ICE-CREAM! SO
TIRING
Julian Ma
I can do this one more day, just one more
time, neat and detailed blog. In the morning, we did PT, then had disgusting
noodle with ham n brocollii after we chilled in our room for an hour, after
Billy come into our room to explain the task, we are gonna get dropped off
somewhere random, then, we have to get back to Muskey’s, on the way we got to
pay attention to details such as street name, number of shops, road signs….
Alpha is first to do it, we were dropped off in a U turn with a “Dead End” sign
on the side, we remembered the whole routine but it’s a long walk carrying a 5
pound backpack, at 1:30 hours, we sat in a park eating food, fooling around, In
the next hour we finally arrived at Muskey’s Landing, the other 2 groups
arrived half an hour later, later we leant how to make a fire after, after it’s
chill time for an hour and that’s when I wrote this blog. Done.
Naomi Golin
Today we were dropped off 5km from
“Muskey’s Landing” and then we had to find our way back. We also had to create
a mag full of the houses street names, stores etc. That we saw. Out of this
challenge, I learned that cooperation is important and we must stick together
as a team to finish a task. I also learned this lesson when we worked together
to do a team challenge. The challenge was for someone to get on a board and we
had to get them across a field. From this challenge I also learned to work
together. this is what I did today.
Lemuel
Finally able to wake up later than usual
and had a room inspection that went fine. after inspection, we moved out to the
middle of nowhere and had to make our way back to camp. we also had to take
notes on our surroundings and make a detailed map. the hiking took about 3 hrs
after which we learned to start a fire with wood shavings and steel wool. we
then moved on to using spinal boards to carry a person. each team had to carry
a person across the field and switch people at each end. two teams tied at the
end of the challenge. mom’s coming tomorrow, gonna lose respect from everyone
tomorrow….
Nathan
Day 6, OMG! 4 of July! BTW, it was the most
tiring day. Billy drop us at a random place and we have to walk back to the
cabin. It was about a 3 hour walk to our day pack fully loaded. It was tiring…
Elvin
Happy Independence day, although I cannot
hear the fireworks going off in the states, I ought to remember to those who
fought for their freedom and independence during the American Revolutionary War
in 1770’s. Today was rather challenging, we were dropped off in a dedicated
spot near our camp site and were told to return white marking passed building
and completing a detailed map. But that was not the challenge, it was
controlling my team group members, especially the students in formation and
keeping them navigated. I also had to stop a fued over one of the student and a
leadership, over their personal trifles. After I separated them I felt a
certain satisfaction, I felt that I have successfuly persuaded both parties and
made peace. These are the good experiences that I have achieved today, I am
always hungry for more, to shape myself as a better leader, and an example for
others to learn.

Today, we went for Charlie group for a 5km
navigation, it took us about 5 hours to complete. On the way, we went a
restraint for lunch, we ate Poutines and French fries for lunch. It cost us a
lot of moneys, I was incharge of Fred in Charlie group. He did a really good
job. He can control himself, while some of the student got off course. Our team
did a really good job. I still want to know the scores for the group.
Sabrina Tan
Today was okay. We started off with
breakfast and then we got abandoned in the middle of nowhere. Just kidding, we
got dropped off somewhere around 6km away and had to find our way back. It was
relatively easy. In the afternoon, we did a challenge involving being carried
by the kids on a stretcher. It was scarier than zip-lining. I am looking
forward to tomorrows Social Intelligence and Finance Management Classes.
Ethan Zhao
Today I shall write in detail but with ok
LA handwriting! So… I woke up looking like usual… And then breakfast!!! Now the
sad part… room inspection. Billy literally checked like no bad world allowed.
He checked the top of the fridge! Now for the sugar,,, we went hiking for 5km,
it was uh… long.. not tiring… weird… and fun!!!! BTW… Nicola can speak KOREAN……
AND SabrIna (old one) is scared of a small bug. AKA my friend….. THAT IS ALL.
And if you thought “why” did I put so many .s? I felt like it.
Mireille
Today I went to hiking with Alpha Group (my
group) we walk around 5 km and we took around 5 hours but we took a break of
30” A Hours. Phew arrived to Muskey’s Landing. Billy teach us how to make fire
without a lighter. Then I help to prepare dinner and after dinner I clean up
with my team.
Fred
Today is very terrible because we need to
walk 5km and eat at a terrible restaurant I don’t like it.
Eric Lo
Today we went to hike, it was cool
including the lunch (poutine). But it was too big. By the way, the camp fire
thing was so fun but it was hard to light it up.
Sabrina Mak
This was one of the most tiring day through
this camp. We woke up at sex-thurty in the morning, went through room
inspection, then pack a two-day camp bag, and prepared for our exhausting
activity. The activity was to hike for several hours, and also to locate road
signs, street names, houses, etc… Our group was the last one to arrive to our
starting point, but at the end we managed to finish third, beating the last
group. Even though our camp bags were quite heavy, and we traveled under the
hot bright sun, I would say that my group did an extremely good job on
accomplishing this challenge. Through this day, I have learnt a lot about
training and teamwork. Tomorrow, I would hope it will be not a very exhausting
day!
Nina Tan
Today, we woke up at 6:45am. We did
physical training and then we ate breakfast. After, Billy told us to pack our
hiking bags since we were going to go hiking and to prepare for the room
inspection. After packing and having a room inspection, we waited to go to the
location to hike. But we had some missions, actually all the teams had
missions, that means Alpha team, Bravo team, Charlie team and Delta team had
missions. The missions were to see how many houses there are, see how much
houses are on sale, how much roach signs, etc. We arrived at the location
around an hour later than the other teams. Awhile after, we hiked, we took a
break, we hiked, we took a break again, we had lunch and then we continued to
hike. Then we had lunch, after we continued to hike and we finally caught up to
the Delta team! Later on we arrived to the cabin, we had a lesson on how to
make fire and then we did a team challenge. After, we ate supper.
Pompey Leung
WOW!!! Today is a fruitful day. In the
morning, we train extremely hard in PT. Then we have a good breakfast. After
the breakfast we all to go pack our backpack for 2 days, that just a practice
for us. After that we go hiking, fine situation is Billy drive us to nowhere then
we need to back to our cabin ourselves with no map, no phone. Also we got a
several questions to due with!
Chin Ho
Today was a very challenging day, we had to
hike for 5 whole hours, dropping us in the middle of nowehere and then finding
our way back? My 1st ever experience. I leaned that teamwork is very
important because if we weren’t together as a team, we would never reach our
campsite.

Today
was a very physically tiring day. We woke up and had breakfast. This morning
Uncle Billy cooked all the vegetarians a gourmet breakfast that consisted of
eggs, waffles and strawberries. It was so delicious. After breakfast we took a
short bus ride to a random place from where we had to hike back to camp. Our
backpacks were heavy and it was really hot but it was still fun. Then we had
lunch at a restaurant. After that we hiked all the way back to camp. When we
got back we rested for a while, then we did some teambuilding activities. We
had to lift a person on a spinal board and cary them across the field. It’s a
lot harder than it sounds. After the teambuilding activity we learned how to
make a fire with a 6 volt battery, iron wool and wood shavings. It was really
cool even though it didn’t work. Tomorrow we’ll learn about social intelligence
and finance. I’m excited for the finance part.

Today
we went hiking the most trieng day of this camp. Today we went on a 5k walk
that toke us 4 hours that was and we were all really tried. But we were dropped
off an hour later then everybody else but finished before delta. After that we
did a team challenge and tied for first. It was actually really fun. And then
we had dinner and was going to do a camp fire but then they called it off
because no one was there. That was my tried day camping.
Sabrina, though you are tired but you look so bright!
