We didn’t end up going on the water today as the wind was a
bit on the strong side. We ate a breakfast of oatmeal and ham before heading
down for a hike that went out of the park and eventually along the beach. When
we stopped for a break along the edge of the lake, Billy gave us a lecture on
the receding waters of Lake Ontario. We walked in a loop back to our campsite,
where Kenny gave us an exercise of attention and concentration; asking us
questions such as “how many cars passed us on the way there?” And “How many
dead fish were there on the beach?”
After, we played some communication games with Kenny, like
lining up facing a direction, and having to get to a destination with only one
person moving at a time, with no verbal or overt physical cues. We then had a
lunch of instant noodles and sausages. After lunch, we went to the ampitheatre for
another lesson by Kenny. We did some group activities, then did some individual
presentations up on the stage, introducing ourselves. From these introductions,
we learned proper presentation skills, such as projecting our voices, and
maintaining eye contact. We then moved on to a group drama exercise involving a
strange baby named Jade, picked up at a riverbank by a remote (and apparently
cannibalistic) village in Australia. We really got into role then, with a group
of “monks,” and a more animalistic group calling for blood.
We had a dinner of rice, zucchini, ground beef, and tomato
sauce. Hopefully, there will be smooth sailing tomorrow!

I got bitten by mosquitoes! So sad… they really seem to know
where to bite, to choose both my ankles… Anyway, so today we didn’t go on
water. Instead we hiked. The first part was on paved path all the way to the
beach, with the second part back from the beach through the beach. What I just
wrote doesn’t seem to make much sense. Anyhow, the morale of the hike was that
taking the easy path (life) can be long and boring whereas the hard path may
have more rocks and obstacles but it is definintely more interesting. We spent
the rest of the day with Kenny doing drama exercises. We learned the 3E in
presentations: Entertainment, Enthusiasm, and ending. We then got into groups
and and acted out skits. The imagination of everyone was so funny. And violent.
I think my brain has shut down for the night… Oh yeah, Billy taught us how to
make fire yesterday. Fun ~

Today is the third day of camp and all we did for today was
drama and some hiking. When we woke up we were told to do pushups which was
fun. after we were done with the pushups we ate breakfast which was oatmeals. When
we wer done with the oatmeals breakfast we head out for a hike it took us an
hour to get from our camp to the head office to the other side of the beach. When
we were told our challenge was to walk back on the beach it took us half an
hour to get back from the eastside of the beach. Once we got back to our camp
we got tested on from the walk. After that we played some drama game to test
our patience which didn’t seem to be much. When we were done with the patient
game we had instant noodles for lunch. It was good since I haven’t eaten it in
ages. A little while after we headed out to the theatre place and did some
group work and some individual work. The group work was in a group of crazy
people and they are fun to be with. We have been doing the drama lesson for
around four hour which was for hour of entertainment.

Today was a pretty bad day for me. A situation happened back
at home and I was unable to do anything about it. This dampenered my day but it
is fine hopefully. We started the day with a 2 hour hike. We then started doing
the leadership training. We did two different training. We did two different
training exercises one that is called fish – eye and one is unison. After we
went to the amhetere and Kenny made us do an interesting drama.
Calvin
The hike this morning was shorter than I expected. I was at
the front and the back of the line during the hike. The students seems to
enjoyed it very much. The hike was interesting as it was along side the beacj
part of the way. It gave them a chance to experience different terrain, as
Billy had said. I agree as it made a lot of sense when he relates it to the
difficulties of life. The afternoon plans had changed and, instead of doing activites,
we did a drama class with Kenny. The drama class had given us rest, especially
for me and Alastair. We had to be in the in the water the most yesterday. Hopefully
it will not rain the next day and we could do more water activities.

Wow, days goes dast. Five more days till the end of the
Monticle camp. I miss it. Today is the day where we said that we are maybe
going on the water, but we didn’t. We hike around the beach and it takes two
hours to walk back to the campsite. Then we have lunch. It is instant noodles,
with brocli, with sausage. Then I play a little bit frisbee. Then we had drama
class. This is the second drama class I have in Monticle. It takes like three
hours to end the class and now we are writing our blogs. So there end of story.

At the morning we got a walking pt about two hours. It was
very tired and we fins a difficult road to came back because it was faster. Before
the lunch we played two games. The name is fish eyes. It help us to care for
other people. It was difficulit too. After the lunch, I went to do the drama. It
was very fun. at the drama afternoon, I learn a lot of things for it, like 3E.
the 3E is learn for Dr. David (Kenny). It was very fun. at last, we do some
parts of story. The story is said had some women go to wash the clothes and saw
a body on the rover. And they call the body to jade….. I ma so tired to do five
hours drama.

Today when we woke up, we ate our breakfast. After eating we
went hiking for about 2 hours after hiking we played 2 games, the first game
was on fish eye game. The second game was the teamwork game. After playing we
ate lunch. When we finished lunch we went to the theater and did drama acts. It
was along time we all act out the parts.
Alastair
No water activities today, because of the weather here…
Anyways, we started off the day with a refreshing PT of pushups, and then moved
onto a short hike. We walked from the paved road to the beach, and using the
beach, we went back to the campsite. We then did some teamwork games, and moved
on to the bulk of the day, drama class. For some of us, our more sadistic
tendencies revealed itself…Anyways, it’s been a long day, and we need to rest
for tomorrow, so good night and good bye!

Cedric

This day we started out with a 2h hike. Leading my group of
3 was difficult because they bth walked at differet speeds. I felt like I did a
good job because both of my team members did not give up. After the hike we did
a team work game, it gave us a idea of how to be patient and how to look after
for each other. We then went to the open theater and learn a lot about
confidence, passion and enthusiasm when presenting something. I learn alot on
how to make a god impression and team work, today. I hope the other days will be
filled with knowledge.

Today was sunny, I did a lot of things and I was tired. At
10:00 am, we went hiking after the breakfast, it was very tired, about 2 hours.
We have done. And then we went to open theatre to learn when we were
presentation we should do. We also do the drama, the story is about one girl
called “jade”. I got a lot of fun there. Today is a very important day.

We had oateal, ham for breakfast. After break fast we went
hiking outside Darlington provincial Park to a beach near the provincial park
then walked though the beach ad back to the camp site it took two hours. Before
lunch we played 3 diffrent games. The first game was a trivia, invidual walking
to the line (patient training). The final was walking towards our goal. For
lunch we had a instant noodle and sauges. After lunch we did some drama
activities such as talking about ourselves and act out a story.
Jonathan
Today, on the third day, for our personal Fitness Training,
we walked all across Darlington for three whole hours. It was very tiring.
After lunch, we took a walk down to the amptheatre to do some drama. It
excellent. Tomorrow, we are something interesting that I don’t know.

Today is July, 24, 2012. This morning we when for a hours
hike 10-12 am. I learn that “Walking the hard way will have a better view and
faster to reach the goal.” Later we have a fish eye game. I learn, “you have to
be indevite goal and we have to take care of other and reach your goal. this
Afternoon, we have a 5 drama class talking the story of Jade story and the 3 “E”,
Entinence, Enfercensome and Ending.

Today we had a short-ish hike around the park then we played
couple of games with Kenny and then we had couple of presentations and a drama
skit/play. During the hike we learned that the hard way to a destination may in
fact be quicker but will have more obstacles along the way compared to the easy
way. After the hike we played coupe games under Kenny’s supervision where we
learned to see our senses and that we need to help your team as well as ever
losing sight of your target or goal. During the presentation we learned how a
good speech must have a speaker with high enthusiasm, an entertaining speech
and must have a good ending. After the skit/pay we learned that if you’re
willing to change you can in fact change your personality.

I’m currently in the pitch blackness at the charging station
with my brother and Alastair, being eaten alive by mosquitoes. Asian buffet.....
So forgive me for being brief; I am in some
severe need of some after-bite, and perhaps a haz-mat suit.
What really interested me today was the part of the hiking
that took us down to the shores of Lake Ontario. There were two ships out
there, one of which we saw yesterday. The waters were pure, waves gently
lapping against the sand of the beach. The water stretched all the way across
the horizon, deep cerulean at the farthest reaches, transitioning to a sapphire
ripple, and finally, a bottle green near the edges of the rocks. And this beautiful
sight/site is being slowly destroyed. The algae are drying up on the beaches,
and the cliffs loom, at times, more than 5 metres above us—where the water line
should be. The place was littered with garbage as well. We, the people, need to
do something about this.
The second thing that left a big impression on me today was
the drama exercise with Kenny. I was in a group with Grace, Ryan, Cedric, and
Peggy. We fought over the baby that we found at the river, then fought over who
would take responsibility and feed the baby and change its diaper (we settled
on Mommy Cedric). And just for your information, our group was the monk group;
and we really got into role. We bestowed magic powers onto the baby “Jade” at
her initiation ceremony. I really got
into role, and honestly felt sagely. That is all for today. Happy birthday, Mom!
Goodnight.
😝so u guys are going on the water tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteYes, Kendra. We will be on water whole day tomorrow.
DeleteGreat!
