Quebec trip Day 1 and 2

December 23, 2013

We started the day by loading the sprinter. Everybody worked together to form a chain to load up all the necessities needed for the trip. After the loading was done, we picked up two more people and left for Quebec. Along the way, we stopped for a quick lunch and washroom break. We arrived at Brossard late afternoon and settled at Billy’s friend’s house. We formed another chain and unloaded the equipment and luggage. The cooks prepared dinner and the others unpacked. After dinner, we watched and took turns using the shower. Everybody went off to bed at their own times and that was the end of the day.

December 24, 2013

Today, we spent the day site seeing and touring Montréal. We started the day with a nice breakfast and then left for the first destination. The first place we visited was St. Joseph church, the largest church in Canada. We spent the morning touring the ups and downs of the church and learning the history of the church. After, we took a lunch break and toured around Old Montreal. We then drove back to the house and ate dinner and spent the rest of the night watching movies.

Monticle Christmas Reunion Party

For many of us, it has been a long time since we’ve seen each other. Some of our Monticle family gathered at HQ today for a reunion party with delicious food and fun and games, but the best part was to simply enjoy each other’s company. The party brought together students from all of the previous years of events along with friends and family members. We admired the new interior of HQ, with its lovely Monticle Yellow walls and new furnishings. We had fun gaming and playing foosball and just catching up with each other.

We fell in step like there had been no gap of time between us at all. It is difficult to capture in words the feeling of being in the presence of people that you’ve grown close to, a family that you’ve become a part of, and even more difficult to describe the reunion with these people. You don’t really realize how much you’ve missed the atmosphere of energy that comes from it, and now that the holidays have arrived, it was a great event to unwind and relax at.

We said goodbye to Alvin today and hope he has a good vacation back home in HK. Finally, his plane was able to leave today after a harrowing 20 hour delay!

We were not able to skype with our dear overseas students, unfortunately. Tiff, we thank you so much for your lovely cards! And to the rest of our family that was unable to attend, you were missed, but we wish you a merry Christmas, we wish you a merry Christmas, we wish you a merry Christmas…..
